Francisco Lazalde Chihuahua, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012.
He was born October 5, 1925, in Sain Alto, Zacatecas, Mexico to Macario Lazalde and Andrea Chihuahua. He was raised in Mexico and on February 1, 1948, he married Maria C. Lazalde in Sain Alto, Mexico. He moved to Rigby in 1966 and was one of the first Lazalde’s in the area. He worked at Muir Roberts in Rigby and for Ucon Produce. He also worked for Lawrence Gooding doing farm work.
Francisco was a member of the Catholic Church; he enjoyed music, dancing and playing pool. Above all he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife; Maria C. Lazalde, of Pocatello, daughters; Concha (Frank) Orner, of Firth, Blanca (James) Orner, of Pocatello, Sandra (Brent) Christensen, of Blackfoot, sons; Salvador (Rosalba) Lazalde, of Victor, Oscar (Juanita) Lazalde, of Driggs, Francisco (Kathy) Lazalde, of Rigby, Gerardo (Monica) Lazalde, of Idaho Falls, sister; Celia Martinez, of Monterrey, Mexico, brother; Santiago (Margarita) Lazalde, of Layton, Utah, 27 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, 4 brothers, and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, on the corner of 9th and Lee in Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Friday evening at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby, and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
