Franklin G Kinghorn

Franklin G. Kinghorn, age 88, of Lewisville, died December 30, 2011 at his home in Lewisville. Frank was born March 20, 1923, in Lewisville, Idaho a son of James Franklin and Elise M. Green Kinghorn. He was raised and attended school in Buhl and Lewisville and graduated from Midway High School. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Lewisville 2nd Ward Bishopric, High Council in the Menan Stake and Ricks College. He served in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple for 10 years, served a mission for the Menan Stake and taught Sunday School for many years. Frank married Alice Reed on January 30, 1949 in Lorenzo, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple on July 25, 1951. He farmed and ranched in the Lewisville area all his life. He served in the United States Army in the 10th Army Headquarters Company as a sharp shooter during World War II and was a security and safety guard for visiting dignitaries. He served on the Parks and Lewisville canal boards for 36 years and on the F.S.A. board for several years. He enjoyed sports, horses and was a starter for the National Chariot Association for several years. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren. Frank is survived by his wife Alice Kinghorn of Lewisville, two daughters Alisa (Jeff) Collinsworth of Mapleton, Utah, Alane (Nolan) Bloxham of Lewisville, three sons, Karl (Sydney) Kinghorn, Calvin (Kathleen) Kinghorn, Clair (Lexie) Kinghorn all of Lewisville, one sister Reva Kinghorn of Orem, Utah, 22 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lewisville 2nd Ward Chapel. The family will visit with friends on Monday evening from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. and prior to the services at from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. both at the Lewisville Church. Burial will be in the Lewisville Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby. Military rites will be performed by the Jefferson Veterans Team.
