Fred Arch Jensen

April 9, 1941 — November 8, 2021

Fred Arch Jensen, 80, passed away November 8, 2021, peacefully at his home in St. Anthony, Idaho. Even though his health had been steadily declining his spirit stayed strong until the very end.

Fred was born April 9, 1941 in Winslow, Arizona to Everita and Sharman A Jensen. He was one of three boys and loved his brothers, Carl and Dale. He spent his childhood in Pratt, Kansas working on the family farm. This is likely where he mastered the art of fixing anything with bailing twine and duct tape!

Fred was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission in Germany. After returning home from his mission, he met his sweetheart, Margie Jensen; they married, in 1964, in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Fred and Margie quickly started a family. He then joined the Navy reserves before transferring to the Army. He faithfully served his country in Vietnam. After returning home, Fred and Margie continued growing their family of 5 rambunctious boys, lived in several different locations around the country and eventually moved home to Idaho where they raised their busy family. It was in Idaho that Fred finally got his baby girl!

Fred spent 30 years working as a group therapist for the Juvenile Corrections Center. He had a special way of connecting with the youth. Fred’s love for the youth and sporting events was demonstrated by his involvement with the Upper Valley Youth Association. He was instrumental in building the baseball complex in St. Anthony. Fred’s love of youth and sporting events also blessed his children’s and grandchildren’s lives as he never missed a wrestling match, football, soccer, softball or volleyball game.

In their retirement, Fred and Margie served a mission to Edmonton, Canada where they served and loved the people of the Indian reserve. Fred loved traveling and he and Margie spent time in Hawaii, Korea, Alaska, and all across the United States. His first big purchase, after retiring, was his fishing boat where he spent hours with friends and grandchildren. His whole life was spent hunting in the mountains, trailblazing new roads and inevitably getting stuck!

Fred is survived by his dear wife, Margie of St. Anthony; son Sharman (Stacey) of Salem, Idaho; son Kendon (Lisa Marie) of Salem, Idaho; son Kelly (Kaya) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughter Heidi of Victor, Idaho, 11 grandkids and 4 great grandkids.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and two sons, Delbert (April) and Buck (Loryan.)

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 13, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 4 th Ward Building; 507 West 2 nd North, St. Anthony, ID 83445.
