Freda Addaline Reed Madsen, age 92 of Lewisville, died at her daughters home in Menan, Sunday August 19, 2012.
Freda was born September 11, 1919 in Butler Island (Ririe) , Idaho a daughter to Freeman Leon Reed and Lula Yearsley Reed. She was raised in Butler Island and Lorenzo area’s and attended schools in Ririe and Rigby, graduating from Midway High School.
She married Weldon LaVern Madsen May 5, 1941 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. As an active member of the LDS Church she served as a primary teacher, as secretary of the Primary and Sunday School and was active in the Relief Society. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, sewing and her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters: Luella (Paul) Drake of Rigby and Marie (Blair) Olsen of Menan, two sons: Donald W. Madsen of Rigby and Dale Reed (Patricia) Madsen of Idaho Falls, three sisters: Afton Wilcox of Rexburg, Alice Kinghorn of Lewisville and Norma Waters of Richland, Washington, a brother Paul Reed of St. George, Utah, 16 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Freeman and Lula Reed, her husband Weldon L. Madsen, two brothers Roy Reed and Calvin Reed and a sister Helen Scheets.
Funeral services will be held Thursday August 23, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. in the Lewisville LDS Chapel with Bishop Tony Nielsen officiating. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
