Gail Emfield, 58, of Inkom, died at her home Thursday, December 4, 2008, of thyroid cancer.
She was born January 26, 1950, in Lehi, Utah, to Hyrum Dee Hansen and Mary Anne Butler Hansen. She was raised and attended schools in Castle Dale, Utah. She graduated from Snow College and from Utah State University with a degree in Elementary Education, and a minor in music. She married Richard Earl Petersen on July 27, 1972, in the Logan LDS Temple. Richard passed away in February, 1988. On February 2, 2005, she married Gary Ray Emfield, in Inkom.
She taught at Ellis Elementary School in Chubbuck and did home bound teaching.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many capacities including Relief Society President, Primary Presidency, Activities Chairman, Primary Chorister and Visiting Teacher. Gail was well known for her artistic paintings and large murals, was an expert seamstress, played the piano, and befriended many, and enjoyed her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Dr. Gary R. Emfield, of Inkom, daughters, Rachel (Derrik) Hiatt, of Provo, UT, Melonie (Kevin) McCausy, of Pocatello, Becky (Todd) Davies of West Jordan, UT, Debbie (Cameron) Heninger, of Woodland Hills, UT, a son, Earl Richard (Emily) Petersen, of Twin Falls, ID, sisters, Deanna (Odell) Rice, of Malad, Marilyn (Peter) Hansen, of Ivins, UT, Carol (Tom) Wayman, of Manti, UT, Elizabeth (Mike) Ward, of Monmouth, OR, Jane (Rian) Anderson, of Fairview, UT, Rebecca (Lynn) Larson, of Price, UT, brothers, Richard (Carol) Hansen, of Glendale, AZ, David (Rolayne) Hansen, of Modesto, CA, Glen (Jill) Hansen, of New Harmony, UT, Niels Hansen, of Sandy, UT, 29 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at the Rapid Creek Ward Chapel, 973 Rapid Creek Road, Inkom. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, both at the church.
Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Tremonton, UT, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
