Gail Sheppard

February 22, 1925 — June 17, 2009

Gail Sheppard, 84, of Rigby, died June 17, 2009. He was born February 22 1925, in Marysville, Idaho, to John Archie Sheppard and Mabel Casper Sheppard. He attended schools in Lewisville and graduated from Midway High School. He served in the US Navy during WWII as a gunners mate on the destroyer USS Ingraham. On April 21, 1948, he married Thelda Margene Clark in the Idaho Falls, LDS Temple. He farmed in Annis for 59 years and was named farmer of the year, and also received the soil conservationist of the year award. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Bishop, as a High Councilor, a Temple Worker, and served in the Grand Junction, Colorado Mission, along with his wife in 1989. Gail was honest and hardworking; he enjoyed farming, reading, serving in the church, and loved to spend time at his ranch in Teton Basin. He is survived by his wife, Margene, of Annis, a daughter, Joyce (Clark) Hansen, of Burton, sons, Richard (June) Gail Sheppard, of Annis, Craig Lee Sheppard, of South Jordan, UT, Larry John (Connie) Sheppard, of Annis, Lynn Archie (Candace) Sheppard, of Annis, brothers, Clint G. Sheppard, of Pocatello, Glen (Quina) Sheppard, of St. George, UT, John (Judy), Sheppard, of Idaho Falls, and 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, and 1 brother. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2009, at the Menan Stake Center, 698 N. 3600 E., Menan, with Bishop Gary Sears, conducting. The family will visit with friends Sunday evening, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main St., Rigby, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
