Garry LeGrand Bowen, age 70, of Rigby, died at his home, Sunday, March 9, 2008.
He was born October 5, 1937 at Idaho Falls, a son of Fred Bowen and Rula Josephson Bowen. He was raised in Bates and Driggs, Idaho, and was a graduate of Teton High School. He continued his education at Ricks College and graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Sociology. He Married Nada Hemsley, December 18, 1959, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He worked as a Social Worker in California, Utah, and Idaho for thirty-one years.
He was an active member of the LDS Church and served as a Temple Worker in the Idaho Falls, LDS Temple and on the Stake High Council at Ricks College for 5 years. Garry enjoyed hunting, farming hiking, cross country skiing, horses and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Nada of Rigby, two daughters; Pamela (Craig) Bartschi of Eagle, ID, Cindy (Jed) Christensen of Bountiful, UT, two sons; Kim L. (Sandy) Bowen of Tucson, AZ, Craig H. Bowen of Bountiful, UT, step mother Rhoda Bowen of Idaho Falls, two sisters: Coleen (Don) Bevan of Orem, Utah and Carma (Jim) Allison of Idaho Falls, 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Milo Bowen and Phil Bowen.
Services will be held Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rigby LDS Stake Center 258 West 1st North, Rigby with Bishop Earl Bishop conducting. The family will visit with friends on Friday March 14, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Church.
Interment will be in the Bates Cemetery, near Driggs, Idaho. Contributions may be made to Aspen Home Health and Hospice, 3470 Washington Parkway, Idaho Falls, Idaho 83404.
