Garry Lynn Lerwill, 66, of Tetonia, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010, in Rexburg, Idaho.
He was born September 22, 1943, in Ashton, Idaho, to Harold James Lerwill and Alta Ruth Martindale Lerwill. He attended Teton County Schools, graduating from Teton High School. He continued his education at Ricks College and attended welding school. On June 22, 1962, he married his sweetheart Verna June Josephson in the Idaho Falls, LDS Temple.
Garry was a very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many capacities. He farmed in the Teton Valley all of his life, and interacted with farmers from all over the nation. He served on various Agricultural Committees, implemented many new farming technologies and was an advocate for all farmers. As an accomplished farmer he loved to work, and watch his cattle and crops grow. He also enjoyed spending time in the outdoors snowmobiling, horseback riding, skiing, hunting, and being with his family. Garry was an exemplary father, who raised 4 children who love and admired him. Garry understood the essence of hard work, and he dedicated his life to his family through work, example, and eternal values, which continues to live on through his posterity.
He is survived by his wife; Verna June Lerwill, of Tetonia, daughter; Lisa (Scott) Lerwill Wright, of LaBelle, sons; Jeff (Alana) Lerwill of Moody, Stacy (Brenda) Lerwill, of Tetonia, Ryan (Kalle) Lerwill, of Moody, sisters; Shirley (Jim) Brock, of West Jordan, Utah, Marlyn (Jim) Barnes, of Midvale, Utah, brothers; Brent Lerwill, of Coos Bay, Oregon, Danny (Kathy) Lerwill, of Rigby, 16 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, David Lerwill.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 5, 2010, at the Tetonia 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, with Bishop Ron Berry, Conducting. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Sunday, and from 9:30a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Monday prior to services, both at the Tetonia Church. Burial will be in the Cache Clawson Cemetery under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
