Gary Leroy Ames, age 68, of Lewisville, passed away at his home in Lewisville, Sunday August 23, 2020.Gary was born March 12, 1952 at Idaho Falls, Idaho a son to Azel L. Ames and Amber L. Meikle Ames. He attended schools in Lewisville and Roberts, graduating from Rigby High School. He then attended Brigham Young University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree. He worked in Quality Control for Frenches in Shelley for a number of years and then at the INL.Gary enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities. One of his most favorite things which he loved was that he and brother Marlin spent many days and nights exploring in the high country of Idaho and Wyoming backpacking, camping and fishing in high mountain lakes. As youth faded he enjoyed riding on a 4 wheeler instead of backpacking, so many trails to discover! Gary “loved” fishing and would get out and go as often as possible! Camp fire sitting with family and friends also was a favorite activity! Anything outdoors was his THING! He loved his family and friends, enjoyed many close relationships. Gary also loved to garden even in his weakened condition he put in a garden, he kinda had a green thumb like Dad. He usually had good crops which he shared with many. He will surely be missed! Happy trails brother! He is survived by a brother Marlin (Jill) Ames of Arco, Idaho and a sister Sandy (Bruce) Coley of Bayfield, Colorado, many nieces and nephews” as well, and many cousins too numerous to list here. He was preceded in death by his parents and many aunts and uncles.Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be announced at t later date.
