Gary Dean Bidwell

Gary Dean Bidwell 69, a longtime resident and community servant of St Anthony, ID passed away November 4th, 2016 due to a heart attack. Gary was born April 8, 1947 the second of three sons to George and Edith Bidwell. He grew up in Grant attending elementary school in Lewisville, Idaho. He Graduated from Rigby High School in 1965. He received his associate’s degree from Ricks College and his Mortuary Science degree from San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. During high school he played the trumpet for local veterans at funerals which sparked an interest in serving as a funeral director. He continued to be the bugler for the VFW for over 45 years. He was very active in his community serving as a member of the Lions club, Rotary Club, Search and Rescue, and St Anthony Fire Department. He conducted hundreds of funerals and served the St. Anthony and surrounding areas for 45 years. He married Linda Sue Mickelsen on April 9th, 1971 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in St Anthony where they raised four great kids. He served an LDS mission to the Australian Mission from 1966 to 1968. Gary has been an active member of the LDS Church serving in several positions including the Twin Groves Ward Bishopric. He is survived by his wife Linda Bidwell, St. Anthony, ID., two brothers Ron (Tedra) Bidwell, Rigby ID.; John (Trudy) Bidwell, Pocatello, ID; four kids Ronda (Billy)Bean, Germany; Rick Bidwell, St Anthony, ID.; Heather (Matt) Bennett, St Anthony ID.; Lori (Jacob) Olsen, St Anthony ID.; and 9 Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons Gary Lynn and Jonathan Kent. Gary’s final funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, November 9th at 11:00 am in the St Anthony LDS Stake Center with Bishop Wade Geisler, officiating. Friends may call Tuesday the 8th at the Bidwell Funeral Home from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and the Church one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Wilford Cemetery. The family suggest contributions to the LDS Missionary fund.
