Gary Demonte Briggs

Gary Demonte Briggs, 66 of Idaho Falls, died Thursday, December 25, 2003 at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Gary was born September 7, 1937, at Thornton, Idaho a son of Edward Briggs and Hazel Anderson Briggs. He grew up and attended schools in Madison County graduating from Madison High School. He married Janis Ellsworth on December 22, 1959 at Thornton, Idaho. He worked as a carpenter throughout his life which moved him to Utah from 1962 to 1969 then Silverthorne, Colorado from 1969 until 1988, then Temecula, California from 1988 until 1993 moving home to Idaho Falls in 1993. He was a lifetime member of the BPOE “Elks Lodge” and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed family and friends. Survivors include: His wife Janis E. Briggs of Idaho Falls, 2 daughters: Debra K. Briggs of Idaho Falls and Barbara (Bruce) Schlenz of Dillon, Colorado, 2 sons: Gary Lynn Briggs of Phoenix, Arizona and Michael D. (Julia) Briggs of Denver, Colorado, 2 sisters: Maxine Hanson of Rexburg and Dorothy Hanson of Thornton, and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 29, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. in Eckersell Memorial Chapel. The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and at the Church on Monday for one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel.
