Our Heavenly Father embraced Gerald "Gary" Frederick Clayton in his loving arms and called him back to his Heavenly home in the early hours of Monday, October 12, 2020. Gary was surrounded by his loved ones both before, and during his passing at his home in Lewisville, ID at age 68. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
Gary, the oldest son of Jack & Donna Clayton, was born on September 1, 1952 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was raised in the Rigby area and graduated from Rigby High School, where he met his sweetheart Sheri Clement and later married her on August 16, 1974 in Idaho Falls. Gary went on to graduate from Ricks College and found employment in construction as a blade operator for Burggraf Construction, for which he traveled to build roads in places such as West Yellowstone, Salmon, Burley, American Falls, Craters of the Moon, Swan Valley, Jackson Hole & Carter, WY. He later became a Journeyman Electrician and worked for Arco Electric of Idaho Falls for several years before retiring.
Gary’s interests included the great outdoors, wildlife, and sports such as basketball, football, hunting, and fishing. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and sharing his strong testimony of God, Jesus Christ, and the scriptures.
Gary was preceded in passing by his mother Donna Marie Butikofer Clayton, and His father Jack Calvin Clayton who recently passed March 17, 2021.
He is survived by his wife Sheri Clement Clayton and their 5 children, Curtis (& Jacy) Clayton, Calisa Clayton, Robert (& Carrie) Clayton, Randal (& Kirsten) Clayton, and Katy (& Garrett) Burton as well as 16 adorable grandchildren.
He is also survived by his 10 siblings, Caroline Clayton (& Alex), Annette (& Max) Rumbaugh, Lourene (& Robert) Praeder, JoAnn (& Brad) Pickering, Janet Clayton, Keith Clayton, Ralph (& Kim) Clayton, Brian Clayton, Phillip Clayton, and Pauline (& Mark) Johnson.
Gary’s family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the staff of Solace Hospice for their gracious services.
A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held in Gary’s honor, Saturday, July 10, 2021; 11:00 a.m., at the Lewisville Church in Lewisville Idaho.
