Gary Clinton Ellis, age 72, of Ammon, died Monday July 30, 2012 in Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. He was born September 10, 1939 in Rexburg, Idaho a son of Melvin Purser Ellis and Irene Davies Ellis. He attended schools in Hamer graduating from West Jefferson High School. He was a member of F.F.A. He served in the U. S. Navy. He married Doris Ellis, October 4, 1968 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple May 13, 1983. He worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Idaho Falls for 10 years. As a member of the LDS Church he served as Sunday School President, Employment Specialist and Assistant Ward Clerk. He enjoyed living on the land, gardening, animals, especially horses. He had a Jersey Dairy in Ucon for several years. He is survived by his wife Doris of Ammon, two daughters: Julie Ann Ellis of Oregon and Debbie Sue (Kevin) Bortolazzo of Yakima, Washington, two sons: Benjamin Gary (Lisa) Ellis of Westminster, California and Troy E. Ellis of Idaho Falls, one brother Robert (Afton) Ellis of Hamer, and 9 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Elaine and one grandson. Gary will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday August 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ucon Monument Ward LDS Chapel. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel 101 West Main Street, Rigby and on Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby.
