Gary Ray Emfield, 89, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at the Gateway Transitional Care Center in Pocatello, Idaho from health issues related to age.
Gary was born on April 10, 1934 in Spokane, Washington, to Ray Herbert Emfield and Audra Eckersell Emfield.
He attended and graduated from the Los Angeles Chiropractic College where he received his Doctorate of Chiropractic. Gary was a successful chiropractor and owned and operated the Pocatello Chiropractic Clinic. He truly loved his profession and served many people in the community. During his life, Gary lived in Spokane, WA, Los Angeles, CA, Perris, CA, Riverside, CA, Pocatello, ID and finally retiring in Inkom, ID.
Gary married and was sealed to Tove J. Carlsen on November 30, 1954 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Gary and Tove raised four wonderful children during their marriage and operated the Pocatello Chiropractic Clinic until she passed away in 2000. Gary then married Gail Hansen on February 5, 2005 in Inkom, Idaho. She passed away in 2008. On November 28, 2009, Gary married Desiree Jensen in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They adored one another very much and loved to go to family events together.
Gary was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He honorably served in all the callings extended to him including that of Bishop of the Pocatello 15th Ward.
He enjoyed reading and learning about history.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Audra Emfield; previous wives Tove Emfield and Gail Emfield; and granddaughters Sara-Jane Emfield, and Rebecca Emfield.
Gary is survived by his sweetheart, Desiree Emfield, of Inkom ID; sons Steven Ray (Kathy) Emfield of Lehi UT, Eric Karl (Jennifer) Emfield of Chubbuck ID, Brian Adam Emfield of Shelley ID and Aaron Allan (Avril) Emfield of Pocatello, ID. Gary is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren that he loved tremendously.
Funeral services for Gary will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Snow Peak LDS Chapel (150 Snow Peak Blvd, Inkom, ID 83245). Family will receive friends and family from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow the funeral at the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery in Rigby, Idaho.
