Gary Rue Richards

Gary Rue Richards, 80 of Lewisville passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at his home in Lewisville. Gary was born September 23, 1935 in Basalt, Idaho to Rue Fredrick Richards and Clara Ann Messick Richards. He was raised and attended schools in Shelley and Idaho Falls and graduated from Bonneville High School. On September 26, 1958, he married Elizabeth Almina “Betty” Yarber in Idaho Falls, Idaho; they were blessed with 4 children. Gary worked as a crop inspector for the USDA and the state of Idaho. Gary enjoyed flat track horse racing and cutter racing and was a member of the Cutter Racing Association. He loved spending time with family and friends, camping and bowling. He is survived by his wife, Betty Richards, of Lewisville, Idaho; daughter, Lisa (Glenn) Shirk, of Fort Worth, Texas; sons, Randy (Darla) Richards, of Blackfoot, Idaho, Brad Richards of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Darin Richards, of Lewisville; sister, Denise (Bob) Ramos, of Idaho Falls; 9 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Cheryl Ann Johnson and an infant brother. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 15, 2016 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street Rigby. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Sunday, August 14, 2016 and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services, both at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Basalt Cemetery at a later date. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
