Gaylene Ker

May 25, 1959 — January 16, 2025

Gaylene Ker, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on January 16, 2025. She was 65 years old.

Gaylene lived in Shelley, Idaho, and was a graduate of Ririe Highschool. She also lived in Willford. She went on to attend Eastern Idaho Technical College, where she studied nursing, and later worked as a caretaker, dedicating her life to serving and caring for others. Gayle’s care taking extended beyond her professional life – she lovingly cared for her husband, providing support and companionship for many years.

Throughout her life, Gaylene was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In addition to her dedication to her family and faith, Gaylene had many passions.  She loved taking drives through the fall colors and enjoying square ice cream cones at the Rainy Creek Store. She had a knack for collecting coins and blankets. Gaylene loved spending time with her grandchildren. Whether it was doing word searches, coloring or just spending time with her family, she loved every moment.

Gaylene is survived by her husband James A Ker of Shelley, Idaho and her daughter Sasha (Christopher) Worrell of Ammon Idaho. She is preceded in death by her parents.

There will be celebration of life for Gaylene on Monday, January 20, 2025 at the ARC Event Center (142 East Main Street, Rigby, ID 83442) from 1:00 to 5:00 pm.

Poem

A brief moment of darkness

was all that I knew,

before Heaven’s Gate

came into my view.

Loved ones and friends

I had missed for many years,

welcomed me with open arms

and many happy tears.

All the hurt, fear and pain

that I have ever known,

is gone from my life,

I am finally home.

I gazed upon the Lord’s

sweet smiling face,

and for the first time in my life

I knew and felt His grace.

I know that you miss me,

but please dry your eyes.

I will always be watching and loving you

from my home in the sky.

A cool breeze on your face,

a touch of light rain,

I will send as a reminder

that we will be reunited again.

Life on earth is but one

brief moment in time,

I am finally home,

Eternity is mine.
