Gene Salsberry

Leonard E. “Gene” Salsberry, 66, of Idaho Falls, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was born January 31, 1944 in Greencastle, Missouri to Edwin Eugene Salsberry and Margie Mae Davis Salsberry. He was raised and attended schools in Novinger, Missouri. He married Doris Downen, they later divorced. On November 22, 1977, he married Charlene Jackson, in Novinger, Missouri. He worked for Firestone Tire Company in Des Moines, Iowa and Union Pacific Railroad. Most recently he was a chauffer for Rigby Country Living Center in Rigby. Gene was a member of the Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Charlene Salsberry, of Idaho Falls, daughter, Victoria (John) Arlene Young, of Ririe, sons, Scott Goddard, of Rolla Missouri, Mark (Cindy) Salsberry, of Corydon, Iowa, Chris Salsberry, of Des Moines, Iowa, Kevin Dean (Angelia) Salsberry of Des Moines, sisters, Janice Frost of Novinger, Missouri, Barbara Burk, of Kirksville, Missouri, Connie Ruggles of Novinger, Missiouri, brothers, Vernon Salsberry, of Novinger, Missouri, Eddie Salsberry, of Kirksville, Missouri, Bill Salsberry, of Queen City Missouri, Bob Salsberry, of Novinger, Missouri, Frankie Salsberry, of Novinger, Missouri, 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Jennifer Kathlene Davis, 3 sisters, Janie, Joyce, Bonnie,1 brother, Laverne and a grandson Kurt Davis. Funeral Services will be held in Clio, Iowa at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 5, 2010, at the Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Clio Cemetery, under the care of Allerton Randolph Funeral Home. Local arrangements are under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
