Genevie Scholes

Genevie Slack Scholes, 79, of Rigby, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at her home. She was born January 27, 1933, in St. Anthony, Idaho to Vernon James Slack and Lucretia Ann Ward Slack. She was raised and attended schools in Twin Groves. She graduated from South Fremont High School then continued her education at Ricks College. On June 3, 1953, she married Harold William Scholes in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union they added five children. Genevie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Primary, Sunday School, as counselor in the Relief Society, as Jr. Sunday School Chorister, Junior Sunday School Coordinator and Nursery Leader. She also served in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and she, along with her husband Harold, served a mission to the New York, New York South Mission. She enjoyed needle work, crocheting, knitting, sewing, and quilting, was an excellent baker and loved animals. She is survived by her husband, Harold W. Scholes, of Rigby, daughters, Sandra (Kenneth) Taylor, of Firth, Debora Scholes, of Rigby, Barbara (J. Clair) Rasmussen, of Missoula, Montana, sons, Douglas (Bonnie) Scholes, of Rigby, Keith (Delaina) Scholes, of Rigby, sister, Lala Mae (Glenn) Ashcraft, of Rexburg, 14 grandchildren and 17.5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Newell Slack and Verdale Slack. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Clark LDS Chapel with Bishop Kent Rolfe, conducting. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
