George Morgan Davis

October 28, 1919 — February 13, 2005

George M. Davis, age 85, of Idaho Falls, died at his home, Sunday, February 13, 2005 . George was born October 28, 1919 in Ucon, Idaho a son of William Thomas Davis and Esther Tyler Murray Davis. He attended schools in Ucon. During World War II he worked in the Shipyards in Bremerton, Washington. On November 20, 1944 he married Betty Dayton Rounds in the Salt lake City L.D.S. Temple. He worked with First Street Plumbing as a journeyman plumber and then for Phillps Petroleum at the INEL for 29 years. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Sunday School President, counselor in the Bishopric, was a Primary teacher, and officiated in the Idaho Falls Temple. He enjoyed gardening, horses, fishing but especially enjoyed his family. He is survived by 2 daughters: Jolene (Greg) Jardine of Idaho Falls; Lori Ann (Blair) Schaugaard of Layton Utah; three sons: Dennis M. (Anita) Davis of Centerville, Utah; Kelly Rex (Susan) Davis of Ammon, Idaho; Kevin W. (Cindy) of Ammon, Idaho; 25 grandchildren; and 42 great grandchildren. George was preceded in death, by his wife Betty, by his parents, 3 sisters, and 4 brothers. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 17th. 2005 at the Idaho Falls 15th Ward 2051 S. Emerson Ave. at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends Wednesday Evening 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the L.D.S. Chapel on the corner of Holmes and Sunnyside and on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the 15th Ward L.D.S. Chapel at 2051 S. Emerson Ave.. Interment will be in the Ammon Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
