George Wiley Eldridge

June 1, 1937 — May 23, 2017

George Wiley Eldridge age 79, of Milo, passed away at his home Tuesday, May 23rd 2017.  George was born June 1st 1937 in Salmon, Idaho the first son to Wiley Fern Eldridge and Sarah Phyllis Wilding Eldridge.  He graduated from Sugar City High School in 1955.  He was to graduate in 1954 but had to take a year away from school to help family.  He served in the U.S. Army and retired as a Major after serving 28 years in the active reserves. He served in Vietnam with the 116th engineers and was a company commander.  On September 16, 1960, he married Shirley Osborne in Rexburg, Idaho. They later divorced.  He married Sharlene Marie Mansfield November 6, 1999 in Rigby, Idaho.  Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple October 23, 2013. He worked with Morrison Knutson as Resident Engineer, for Hunter and Saücerman as a superintendent, for Eldridge Building and Eldridge Brothers Construction with his brother Bud and for Makoto Construction. He also worked for the IDOT and for the Jefferson 251 School District overseeing building construction. He enjoyed wood carving and wood working specializing in custom pens and wood burning. He was known as the wood wizard.  Spending time with his family, his brothers and Clint Carlson was time he cherished as well as hunting, fishing and being in the woods. Survivors include: his wife Sharlene Eldridge of Milo, Connie Ann Moses of Ucon, Robin (Jim) Jones of Rancho de Taos, New Mexico, Wiley “Allen” Eldridge of Idaho Falls, Teresa Laree (Morgan) Yochum of Twin Falls, Idaho, Tamara Lee Jensen-Hill of South Lake Tahoe, California, Teara & (Rodney Miller) Furniss of Citrus Heights, California, Scott Michael Jensen of Murrieta, California, Richard (Karoline) Eldridge of Ammon, Phil (Marcia) Eldridge of Milo, Dee (Mary) Eldridge of St. Anthony, Michael Eldridge of Eugene, Oregon, 23 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Wallace “Bud” Eldridge. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Milo Ward Building, 12127 North 75th East, Idaho Falls, Idaho.  The family will visit with friends on Tuesday May 30th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main, Rigby, Idaho and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.  Burial will be in the Sugar City Cemetery.
