George Richard Juenke

George Richard Juenke, 76, of Rigby, died Thursday, January 05, 2012, at his home. He was born May 28, 1935, in Hastings, Minnesota, to Richard Clement Juenke and Doris Orene Taplin Juenke. He was raised and attended schools in the Farmington area, graduating from Farmington High School. He served honorably in the US Navy from 1954 to 1964, and was one of the first crew members of the U.S. Aircraft Carrier Enterprise. On June 6, 1958 he married Rosemary Hansen in Rigby, Idaho. To this union they added a daughter and three sons. He farmed in the Rigby area and worked as a Nuclear Refueling Technician for Argonne National Labs for 26 years. He also served on the Rigby Volunteer Fire department for 25 years. George loved fishing with friends, was an avid hunter and enjoyed floating the rivers in Idaho. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Juenke, of Rigby, daughter, JoEtta Marie Juenke, of Salt Lake City, Utah, sons, Ben Raydel Juenke, of Roberts, Brian (Marty Ann) Reid Juenke, of Rigby, sisters, Jeanne Miller, of Milford, Pennsylvania, Helen Meier, of Hastings, Minnesota, Ruth Gustefson, of Ramsey, Minnesota, Doreen Larsen, of Farmington, Minnesota, a brother, Elwyn Lee Juenke, of Farmington, Minnesota and 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son Lonnie Russell Juenke. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday January 9, 2011 at Annis Little Butte Cemetery with Military Rites by The Jefferson Veterans Team and the Idaho Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main St. Rigby, prior to services at the cemetery.
