Gerald Scott Bird, 64, of Auburn passed away March 31, 2017 at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho surrounded by his family.
Scott was born January 29, 1953, in Ogden, Utah a son of Afton Dale Bird and Bertha Miller Bird. Scott was raised in Roy, Utah and graduated from Roy High School. He worked at Hill Air Force Base working on the F4s, for Dee Call driving cement truck, the Wyoming State Highway in road maintenance, and was a supervisor of maintenance at the Simplot Smokey Canyon Mine until he retired.
Scott married Clara Gay Shuman on June 6, 1978 in Bothwell, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan L.D.S. Temple in October of 1980. As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served as a teacher in the primary and Sunday school and was a counselor in the Elders Quorum Presidency.
Scott loved to ride motorcycles and bicycles, fly fishing with his sons, cross country skiing, boating and waterskiing, camping with his family, mechanics, cars, tractors and model building. He was always searching for knowledge giving him the opportunity to read many books which he enjoyed greatly but most of all he enjoyed going on adventures with his wife Gay.
Scott is survived by his wife Gay of Auburn, Sons Jake Scott (Heidi) Bird and Jesse Lee (Alyssa) Bird, parents Dale and Bertha Bird, Sister Lisa (Craig) Sorenson, Brothers, Alan (Susan) Bird, Mike and Corey, grandchildren, Travis, Brayton, Presley, Kylee, Makayla, Katelyn.
Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Funeral services will be held on April 5, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Meadows Ward (County Road 182 Hwy 237 Grover, Wyoming). The family will gather with friends prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Auburn Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, Idaho. Condolences may be made to the family online at www.eckersellfuneralhome.com.
