Gerald Earl Malmrose

November 18, 1941 — April 26, 2024

Gerald Earl Malmrose, Born 11/18/1941 Died 4/26/2024

Born on November 18th, 1941, in Los Angeles, California, Gerald lived in the Los Angeles area where his father had a law practice. When he was 3 ½ years old, his mother had a baby girl named Ginger. He loved her and enjoyed being her older brother. His parents were non-practicing members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Just prior to his senior year in high school, Gerald’s mother died of cancer. That caused him to think more about the meaning of life. Members of the Church reached out to him during those teen years, and when he was 17, his stake president, Howard W. Hunter, encouraged him to enroll in seminary where he learned a lot about the Gospel and gained his own testimony.

Gerald’s dad remarried Nance who had a son of her own, and they were married until his dad died years later. Nance was a wonderful stepmother to both Gerald and Ginger.

After high school, Gerald attended UCLA where he met and dated Lorna Emfield. She encouraged him to serve a full-time mission for the Church, and he was called to serve in the French East Mission. The day after Gerald got home, he asked her to marry him, and she said she would think about it! They were married 6 months on June 12, 1964, in the L.A. Temple.

Gerald and Lorna had four children, Earl, Daniel, Audra, and Amber, and lived in California, Idaho, and Washington state during their youth. After the children were grown, Gerald and Lorna served three full time missions, in the Caribbean Islands, Salt Lake City Utah, and in Ghana Africa.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Lorna, the four children, spouses, and many beautiful grandchildren. They look forward to a wonderful reunion on the other side someday!  "The Gospel of Jesus Christ is still true now and forever".
