Geraldine B. Smith, 82, of Rigby, Idaho passed away at home on Thursday, December 5, 2024. She was born February 3, 1942 in Sacramento, California, the daughter of James Bautista and Felicia Caval Bautista.

Geraldine attended schools in Fairfield, California and graduated from Arimjo High School in 1959. She married Richard A. Smith in Fairfield, California on May 25, 1963. Their marriage was solemnized in the Oakland LDS Temple. They have been married 61 years and have lived in Fairfield, California and Rigby, Idaho.

Geraldine worked as a security specialist for the Department of Energy as part of the Idaho National Laboratory. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Geraldine loved spending time with her grandchildren. She held regular luncheons with her friends, calling themselves the “Old Hags”. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, and listening to all kinds of music.

Geraldine is survived by her husband, Richard A. Smith of Rigby, ID. Her children; Felicia S. Vezina of Columbia, CT, Angela (Shon) Erickson of Mesa, AZ, Jason R (Deja) Smith of Vista, CA, Garrett A. (Kim) Smith of Salem, CT, and April (Jake) Rowe of Rigby, ID. Siblings, Christine (Rick) Feldman of Forrestville, CA and Jay (Janice) Bautista of Carmel Valley, CA. She has eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, James and Felicia Bautista.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 1:00 pm in the Garfield LDS 7th Ward Chapel (5 North 3900 East, Rigby, ID 83442). The family will meet with friends at Eckersell Funeral Home (101 W. Main Street, Rigby, ID.) on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm and on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at the church from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm. Interment will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
