Gilbert J. Dayley, 86, of Rigby, Idaho, passed to his eternal rest on January 11, 2024, at The Homestead in Rexburg, Idaho. Gilbert was born December 16, 1937, to Eldon Enoch and Fontella Purser Dayley in Archer, Idaho.
Gil graduated from Rigby High School in 1956 and later from Ricks College with an Associate Degree in Math and Physical Science. He worked for Idaho Supreme, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Idaho Falls Cannery, U&I Sugar, Rogers Brothers Co. and Sperry Co. of Utah.
Arlene and Gilbert married September 14, 1957 in Clark, Idaho. They were sealed January, 1966, a t the Salt Lake City, Utah, LDS temple. Gilbert and Arlene celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2007. Gilbert served as a stake missionary, High Priest group leader, Sunday School president and in various service assignments for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He is survived by Arlene and their children Jimmy (Cheryl) Sugar City, ID; Kathyrn (Paul) Westwood, Ft. Mohave, AZ; Tamra, Woods Cross, UT; Lynda (Robin) Canter, Norwalk, CT; Athena, Woods Cross, UT; and Greggory (Heather), Woods Cross, UT; 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his younger brother, Kyle (Joyce), and sisters Ryla (LeRoy) Clapp, and Betty Mutchler. He was preceded in death by his parents and an older brother, Eldon (Patsy).
A viewing will be held Saturday, January 20th, from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the Eckersell Funeral Home, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, Idaho. Friends and family are invited to the funeral services to be held Saturday January 20th at 11 am in the Eckersell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Sutton Cemetery in Archer.
