Glen E. Poole

Glen E. Poole, age 78, lifelong resident of Menan, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. He was born November 17, 1934, in Menan to Joseph William Poole and Inez Mary Thomas Poole. He was raised and attended schools in Menan and Midway, and graduated from Rigby High School. On May 9, 1953, he married Shirley Bernice Jones in Menan. He worked as a Carpenter building homes throughout South Eastern Idaho. Glen was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints. He was an avid Nascar fan, enjoyed basketball and football games, working in his vegetable garden and especially enjoyed entertaining his family and friends on the Fourth of July at their annual “Under The Apple Tree” celebration. He was survived by wife, Shirley Poole, daughters, Cathie Jo (Scott) Crane, LaRae (Amos) Williams, all of Menan, Glenna (Dennis) Gallagher, of Joplin, Missouri, Suzie (Terry) Armitage, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Becky Poole, of Menan, sons, Rondo (Cindy) Poole, of South Jordan, Utah, Travis Glen Poole, of Challis, sister, Evelyn (Doug) Miller, of Billings, Montana, Nellie Otteson, of Idaho Falls, brothers, Clyde (Lois) Poole, of LaBelle, Walley (Margaret) Poole, of Polson, Montana, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, as well as many friends that he considered family. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 1 sister and a grandson, Levi Williams. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 3, 2013 at Menan 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, 3547 E. Menan Lorenzo Hwy, Menan. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Sunday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Menan 4th of July Fireworks Fund, P.O. Box 127, Menan, Idaho, 83434.
