Gloria Lee Christensen, 81, passed away at Madison Memorial Hospital Friday, April 28, 2023.
She was born June 5, 1941 in Idaho Falls, Idaho a daughter to Elden Phineas and Millecent Porter Lee.
Gloria earned her Associate’s of Nursing (RN) degree and spent her life serving others in the health care industry. She worked at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, BYU Provo Health Center, Teton Valley Hospital, and Madison Memorial Hospital.
On January 29, 1965, Gloria was sealed for time and all eternity to the love of her life, Alvie Charles Christensen in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Temple. During their life together, they lived in Driggs, Rexburg, Ammon and Rigby.
Gloria was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many callings, including music director, music chorister, Relief Society pianist, compassionate service coordinator, visiting teaching coordinator, Cub Scouts and in the Relief Society Presidency. Gloria was also an active lifetime member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Gloria enjoyed music, especially the piano and violin. She was a talented seamstress. She was a devoted Utah Jazz fan and a number one fan. Gloria liked doing crafts, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her kids and grandkids.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elden and Millecent Lee.
Gloria is survived by her sweetheart, Alvie Charles Christensen of Rigby, Idaho; children Heather (Frank) Plain of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Melodie (Ken) Hansen of Ammon, Idaho, Holly (Rob) Johnson of Ammon, Idaho, and Ben (Danny) Christensen of Sugar City, Idaho; siblings Carole (Floyd) Morrow, of Ammon, Idaho, Lynda (Harmon) Tobler of Riverton Utah, Margaret (Glen) Hanson of Salt Lake City, Utah and Brent (Carol) Lee of Nampa, Idaho. Gloria has 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Gloria will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sundance Building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,(602 Sundance St. Rigby Idaho 83442). The family will receive friends, Tuesday, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Eckersell Funeral Home (101 W Main St Rigby, Idaho 83442) and Wednesday, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. A luncheon will follow the funeral service at the church. Following the luncheon, interment will take place at the Ammon Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
