Gordon Lee Miller

Gordon Lee Miller, 99, of Preston, Idaho, formerly of Shelley and Ririe, Idaho, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, August 21, 2010 at the Franklin County Transitional Center, a day after his 99th birthday. He was born August 20, 1911, in Fayette, Howard, Missouri to John Franklin Miller and Minnie Lee Shipley Miller. He married Zelpha Esther Scott on 22 August, 1936 in Ririe, Jefferson, Idaho. They were later sealed together, and had their three children sealed to them in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on the 28th of May 1947. He loved his family and being with them. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, boating and doing temple work. He spent most of his life in the carpentry industry, building houses and churches, helping on the Palisades Dam project, building structures at Arco on the onset of the site project and making toys for his grandchildren. He was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has held many callings. He is survived by his children, Zelpha Arlene Labrum Miller, of Shelley, ID, Edith LaRee Miller DeSalvo, of Ward, AK, Gordon Vernon (Karen) Miller, of Preston, ID, brothers, Walter Leon Miller, of Salt Lake City, UT, Thomas Alvin , Miller, of Plain City, UT, and sisters, Alice Louise Miller Parkinson, of Sugar City, ID, Bettie Jean Miller (Bill) Yarwood, of Tacoma, WA, and many grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, his parents, brothers, John Franklin Miller, Jr. William Henry Miller, David Edward Miller, Charles Raymond, Dale Allen Miller and his sisters, Hazel Bell Miller Rodgers, Eva May Miller Long, and Jannie Virginia Miller Scott. The family expresses their thanks and appreciation to the nurses and staff of Heritage Center and Franklin county Transitional Care Center for all of their love, kindness and support they extended to him. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 28, 2010, at the Ririe 2nd Ward LDS Chapel 285 2nd West, Ririe. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
