Grace Anderson

Anna Grace Bryant Anderson, 102, died September 13, 2009 in Apex, NC. Grace was born in Ravenna, Nebraska on June 12, 1907 to Oscar Burton Bryant and Lizzie Belle Oyster Bryant. The family moved to Gooding, Idaho when Grace was a child. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Gooding College in 1929 and did work towards a Masters degree at Ricks College and Idaho State University. Her first teaching assignment was at a two room school in Thornton, Idaho where she met Daniel Milton Anderson. They were married on June 24, 1932. After raising her family, Grace taught school in the Rigby, Idaho school system. She was very active in the Rexburg Presbyterian Church, the Madison County Grange, the Rexburg Senior Citizens and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary. In 1998 she moved from Idaho to live with her daughter in Apex and was a participant at the Total Life Center in Cary for six years. Grace has been a resident of Spring Arbor of Apex, an assisted living facility, since June 2005. She has made quilts or afghans for each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as for many friends. She also had extensive doll and thimble collections. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and five sisters. She is survived by her children: D. Richard Anderson and his wife, Marcia of Albuquerque, NM; G. Neolia Pulsipher and her husband, Dee of Kirkwood, MO; N. Henry Anderson and his wife, Arlene of Rainier, OR; and Ileta L. Norris and her husband, Frank of Apex, NC. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 on Monday, September 21 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, Rigby, ID. The service will follow at 11:00. Interment will be at Annis Little Butte Cemetery, Menan, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Grace’s name to the Madison County (Idaho) 4-H (Madison County Extension Office, PO BOX 580 Rexburg, ID 83440), the Activity Department of Spring Arbor of Apex (901 Spring Arbor Court, Apex, NC 27502), Heartland Hospice (3117 Poplarwood Court, Raleigh, NC 27604) or a charity of your choice.
