Grant Orlin Gunderson

March 10, 1947 — December 25, 2006

A tribute to our beloved husband, brother and friend, on Christmas day, December 25, 2006 Grant Orlin Gunderson age 59 passed away at home with his loving wife and family around him. For a year and a half Orlin fought cancer, liver disease, a collapsed lung and two heart attacks. Orlin fought like a warrior to live and showed us how to die with dignity. Orlin attended schools in Menan, Midway and Rigby. He was called "Bullet" on the Trojan football team. Just give him the ball and he would get it through. After graduation Orlin and his brother Jay (Gary) went to Alaska to work on the shrimp boats. Orlin also known as "Gunny" belonged to the Operating Engineers Local 370 and worked on the Ririe Dam as a loader operator. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and snowmobiler-winning the 101 cross country race. Orlin and wife Karen, over many years of hard work and travel, built up Gunderson Construction Company. In his business he was known for his hard work, truthfulness and a man of his word. He always tried to give the customer more than they paid for. His favorite part of the business was doing the rock landscaping. Orlin was very proud of the huge rock waterfall he created in his own back yard. Orlin did projects in Salmon, Jackson, Yellowstone Park, Spencer, Island Park and surrounding areas. He is survived by: Spouse, Karen Gunderson, Step Son, Kevin (Wanda) Doschades, Sisters, Linda Julene (Gary) Waters, Noma Ann (Mike) Summers and Kathy Jean (Blake) Neil, Brothers, Gary J. (Dana) Gunderson and Wayne Edward (Terrie) Gunderson. Karen was the love of his life as he was hers. Orlin left sadness in our hearts, but an example of how to love people. He left Christmas morning to spend that wonderful day with those that have gone before him, his parents Noma and Grant Gunderson, Brother Roger and Sister Gwen Gunderson. Our family would like to thank all the great nurses and technicians at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, Dr. Dickson's staff, Dr. Mulvey, Chris Bell, Dr. Behrend, and Dr. Hodson. Services will be held on Saturday, 1:00 PM, December 30, 2006 in the Menan Stake Center, 698 N. 3600 E Menan, Idaho. Family will receive frined from 11:00 AM-12:45 PM Saturday at the Menan Stake Center. Interment will be at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery. We'll Miss you Orlin Love your Family
