Gregory Thompson, 55, of Rigby, Idaho passed away Tuesday, November 28th, 2017 while doing what he loved most hunting in the mountains with his son from cardiac arrest. Greg was born December 15th, 1961 in Logan Utah to Clyde and Donna Thompson. He graduated from Skyline High School in 1980. He served a faithful mission to Dallas, Texas. After 3 short weeks of returning home, he got engaged to his high school sweetheart Lynette. On December 9th, 1983 he married Lynette Sargent in the Idaho Falls Temple. Greg worked for Idaho National Laboratory as a Radiation Control Technician for the last 30 years. He had a great love for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and loved to ride horses. His passion was passing these skills on to family and friends. Greg loved to serve others. He was serving as the 1st counselor in the bishopric of the Garfield 4th ward at the time of his death. He was a great example of loving and serving others . Greg is survived by his wife Lynette, his two sons, Morgan Thompson ( Amanda ) from Lubbock Texas, Casey Thompson (Brooke) and his daughter Kortni Welch (Justin) from Rigby and four adoring grandkids that he doted on, Brinly, Ridge, Bridget, and Camden. He is also survived by his father, Clyde Thompson, siblings Julie Hayes (Ken), Travis Thompson (Lisa) Russell Thompson( Tanna), and Joy Pearson (Wyldn) all from Utah. He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Thompson and grandparents.Greg and his stories of hunting will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family. He was the ultimate example of what a husband and father should be, always showing Christ-like attributes. A celebration of his life service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday December 1, 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 5th N 3900 E, Rigby ID 83442.
