Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Harold Eugene Peterson, 89, of Rigby, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2007, surrounded by his family.
Harold was born February 7, 1918, in Rose, Idaho to Soren Frederik and Marilla Tracy Pedersen. He lived in several locations throughout Southeastern Idaho while young and graduated from Thomas High School as Student Body President.
On September 29, 1938, he married Ruth Campbell in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They farmed and eventually were able to buy their own small farm outside Rigby. Harold also worked at the sugar and starch factories in Blackfoot. He later worked for many years at the Idaho Falls sugar factory. After the sugar factory closed, Harold attended Eastern Idaho Vocational Technical School and graduated in Small Engine Repair at the age of 62 years. He was able to use this education for several years repairing pressure washers, lawn mowers, and other small equipment.
Harold was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed his various assignments including Sunday School, Young Men’s, and with the Boy Scouts of America. He loved bowling, golfing, and fishing and spent many hours enjoying these activities after his retirement with family and friends. He was kind-hearted and had a great love for his family.
