Harold Vern Studebaker, 85 of Rigby, died Saturday, October 11, 2014 at his home.
He was born January 11, 1929 in Wendall, Idaho to Vern Simon Studebaker and Elizabeth Schiehing Studebaker. He was raised and attended schools in Salmon and graduated from Salmon High School. Harold enlisted in the US Navy in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1955. On Jun 12, 1951, he married Janet Kay Robson; their marriage was later solemnized in the LDS temple. They were blessed with 3 sons, Russell, Randall, and Jim. Kay preceded him in death. On March 9, 1973, he married Mary Ellen Hope in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Harold worked as an Electrical Supervisor for Ricks College/BYU Idaho.
Harold was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; he served in various capacities including Sunday School President, Teachers Quorum Advisor, Executive Secretary and Home Teacher. After retiring he enjoyed rebuilding a 1955 F100 Fat Fender Ford.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Studebaker, of Rigby, sons, Russell (Juanita) Studebaker, of Rexburg, Randall Studebaker, of Boise, Jim Studebaker, of Rexburg, Step-sons, Todd (Sandra) Burnside, of Mexico and Jason (Magaly) Burnside of Taylorsville, Utah, 2 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wife, Kay, brothers, Ralph Studebaker, Robert Studebaker and sisters, Mary Alexander and Ruth Howell.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
