Hart L Grover, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully, January 30, 2015 in St. Anthony, Idaho.
Hart was born January 12, 1927 in Belfry, Montana to Leo and Lizzie Leone Grover. He grew up in Teton Valley and the Magic Valley areas with siblings Elmo, Leone, Ben, Joe, Beth and Mary. While just a young boy in Teton Valley, he met the love of his life Laura Mackley. He often told stories of walking with her when they were six years old. He graduated school early and left to join the U.S. Navy where he served during World War II serving in the medical corps.
Upon returning from the war he married Laura on June 2, 1948 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together they had five children, Dannie (Karla) Grover of Idaho Falls, Rita (Paul) Wells of Shelley, Don (Kayleen) Grover of Laurel, Montana, Susan (Dayle) Barrow of Rigby, and Rex Grover of Kennewick, Washington. They have 14 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. They lived their lives throughout Idaho and Utah.
Hart lived in the fast lane and was one of the last true remaining cowboys in Idaho. Hart enjoyed cutter racing and had his own team until 2010. He won many trophies for his horsemanship including sportsmanship, oldest driver, best matched team, and many 1st and 2nd place honors. He was also inducted into the Eastern Idaho Horseman’s Hall of Fame in 2009.
He served as scout master for many years and received the honor of Silver Beaver in 2011. Together with his wife and family they enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing, and he frequently had many of his stories about these times.
Hart is survived by his children, a brother Joe L Grover of California and a sister Mary of St. George, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, brothers, Elmo and Ben and sisters, Leone, and Beth and one great grandchild Shelby Lynn Hess.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the St. Leon LDS Chapel at 6925 North 15th East, Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday February 4, 2015 at Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church on Thursday. Burial will be at the Sugar City Cemetery under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
