Hazel Campbell Andersen

Hazel Campbell Andersen, 97 of Rigby, Idaho, died Saturday, March 08, 2014 at Pine Brook Assisted Living Center in Rigby. She was born June 14, 1916, in Bybee, Idaho (near Rigby) to Jonathan Cornelius Campbell and Elizabeth Temple Villet Campbell. She was raised and attended schools in Swan Valley, Idaho and Cascade, Montana. She continued her education at Ricks College after attending Utah State University and received her degree in Home Economics; she then worked as a school teacher. She married James Henry Andersen March 4, 1952 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple; they were blessed with 2 daughters and 3 sons. Hazel was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; she enjoyed serving at the temple as a patron. She was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She was a skilled gardener and could grow anything. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth (Kerry) Lewis, of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Julie (Kurt) Shumway, of Shelley, sons, James Andersen, of Rigby, Albert (Debra) Andersen, of Rigby, Joseph (Connie) Andersen, of Idaho Falls, sisters, Dian Roberts, Rita Jeffery, Ressa Pincock and Kathryn Moss, 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Helen Bagley (twin sister), Tess Steed, Ruth Mae Campbell and brothers, Jonathan “Jack” Campbell, Cornelius “Bill” Campbell, Brian “Bud” Campbell, Richard “Dick” Campbell, Joel Campbell and 2 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the Rigby East Stake Center, 641 E. 1st South, Rigby. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby.
