Hazel "Betty" Elizabeth Stevens

Hazel "Betty" Elizabeth Stevens, 86, of Idaho Falls, Idaho passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at her home with her loving husband Brooks at her side.

Betty was born February 12, 1936 in Rapid City, South Dakota, the daughter of Edwin Devere Wells and Margaret Mae Hitzel. She worked for the Navy Civil Service as a Manager Assistant until her retirement. She married Brooks Thomas Stevens in Deadwood, South Dakota on September 5, 1954. They met while he was serving in the United States Air Force. Together, they have served in many parts of the world.

Retirement brought them to Idaho to be close to family.

Betty is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her marriage to her husband Brooks was solemnized in the London England Temple. She was a member of the Quilters Guild and Weavers Guild. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and reading.

Betty is survived by her husband, Brooks T. Stevens of Idaho Falls, Idaho.  Her children; Carole (Gordon) Gallup of Ririe, Idaho, Andrea (Tom) Schrishuhn of Delafield, Wisconsin, Eddie (Debbie) Stevens of Mesa, Arizona and Wally (Ellen) Stevens of Williamsburg, Virginia. She has fourteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Hitzel and Edwin Wells, and her grandmother, Florence Tripp.

A graveside service will be held for Betty on Friday, August 26, 2022 at 3:30 PM in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery (12463 E 129 N, Ririe, ID). The family will meet with friends prior to the graveside at Eckersell Funeral Home (101 West Main Street, Rigby, ID) from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Interment will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
