Hazel Dorothy Lowder, age 90, of Idaho Falls, died Monday, January 24, 2005, In Idaho Falls from causes incident to her age.
Dorothy was born March 19, 1914 south of Rigby, Idaho, the daughter of William Ferrin Ballantyne and Hazel Anne Crowther Ballantyne. Her mother died when she was only eighteen days old. She was raised by her grandparents, Shephard Crowther and Mary Ann Crowther in a house that was built on the property where the Farnsworth Museum now stands in Rigby.
Dorothy grew up and attended schools in Rigby, Idaho, and graduated from Rigby High School. She was a pianist for the Boys Choir in High School. Dorothy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. She worked at the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple for 14 years. She enjoyed genealogy, playing the piano, yard work, gardening, and family. She married Arvel Hutchens Lowder, March 29, 1933 in the Logan L.D.S. Temple. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by three daughters, Beverly (Gale) Pabst of Blackfoot, Idaho. Karen Hunter, of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Martha Lowder of Idaho Falls, Idaho. She is survived by one half sister Claudine Parsons of Ogden, Utah. Survived by 7 grand children, 19 great grandchildren, and 1 great grandson. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, one son William Frank Lowder, and one great grand daughter.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 27, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family will receive friends Thursday, one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
