On Tuesday February 7, 2023, Heidi Marie Merrill, 38 years, left this world to return to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father.  Beloved daughter of Douglas Jay and Debra Ann (Rosenthal) Merrill, Heidi was born on August 4, 1984 in Rexburg, Idaho and spent her life in the Rigby/Idaho Falls area.  In 2022 she moved to Twin Falls where she remained until the time of her passing.

Heidi attended the Child Development Center at the age of 2 and quickly became a favorite to those who worked with her.  She continued there until she was 5 years old.  Her first word was “Moo”, instead of Mama or Dada, because they lived in the Milo area and passed so many cows on the way to the center each day.  She began kindergarten in Rigby and completed her schooling in Idaho Falls by graduating from Skyline High School in 2002.

Heidi was very thoughtful of others. She would often remember special occasions by sending a card to family members or friends.   She was very compassionate to others and had such a love for her family and many caregivers. When she would call home, she never failed to ask how her brother Justin and all of her grandparents were doing.  Heidi enjoyed house cleaning and would look forward to going to her Grandma Merrill’s to work by her side. She would always volunteer to wash dishes after family dinners.

Heidi enjoyed many simple things in life. She loved flowers and would light up each time she received them.  Her favorite activities were watching classic Disney movies, reading, coloring, dancing and singing karaoke.  She also enjoyed time spent with family, especially going out to eat with her Grandma and Grandpa Merrill and shopping trips with Mom.

Heidi was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the age of 8 years old. She enjoyed attending church with her family and reading her scriptures.  Heidi had a deep love for her   Savior, Jesus Christ and strived to follow his teachings.

Heidi is survived by her father; Douglas (Debra) Merrill of Idaho Falls; Her mother; Debra (Rosenthal} Volta of Idaho Falls; siblings: Justin, Ian and Katrina Merrill all of Idaho Falls; Grandparents: Louis and Karen Merrill of Rigby, Bonnie Volta of Rancho Cucamonga, California and Nola Rosenthal of Eugene, Oregon.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Ginger Merrill and grandfathers, Roger Rosenthal and Anthony Volta.

Funeral services will be held for Heidi on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Eckersell Funeral Home (101 West Main Street, Rigby, Idaho). The family will meet with friends prior to services at Eckersell Funeral Home from 9:30 to 10:45 am. The interment will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.

The Family would like to thank the many people who supported Heidi throughout her life. We would especially like to thank the staff at Altitude Supported Living of Twin Falls for your kindness and support shown to Heidi during this past year.  She was able to find her happiness in your care.
