Helen Hayes

Helen Durrant Hayes, 90, of the Ririe and Rigby, Idaho area, died Saturday, April 7, 2012, at the Life Care Center in Idaho Falls. She was born February 8, 1922, on Butler Island near Ririe, Idaho to John Roland Durrant and Sadie Geneva Radford Durrant. She attended schools in Ririe, graduating from Ririe High School and was a lifelong resident of the area. On November 20, 1940 she married Reed Bush Hayes in the Logan LDS Temple. They made their home in a four room basement house they built outside of Ririe. Helen is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was active in the Ririe PTA and the VFW Post 1004 in Rigby with her husband. They also donated thousands of hours keeping the City of Ririe clean and helping at the Senior Citizens Center. She is survived by her children JR (Karen) Hayes, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, MarJean Campbell, of Idaho Falls, Renetia Nielsen, of Idaho Falls, FarrDell (Loa) Hayes, of Ririe, Idaho, Dee Hayes, of Idaho Falls, Karl (Mardi) Hayes, of Idaho Falls, 28 grandchildren, and 55 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Cleova (Narvel) Johnson. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at the Ririe Perry Ward, with Bishop Alan Myler, conducting. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
