Helen Wanda Summers Jensen, age 92, of Shelton, died at home, Wednesday, September 30, 2009.
Helen was born March 5, 1917 at Ririe, Idaho a daughter to George W. Summers and Ivy May Siepert Summers. She attended schools in Ririe and graduated from Ririe High School as Valedictorian. She served a mission for the LDS Church in the Northern States from 1936 until 1938. She married Leslie Clyde Jensen January 17, 1941 in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. She was an active member of the LDS Church served in callings in the Primary and Young Women organizations. She had a church calling as Relief Society Visiting teacher supervisor even at the time of her death. She had worked in the Kitchen at the LDS Hospital and the Sacred Heart Hospital. She also worked for Hunter Produce in Ririe and Good Samaritan Center, in Idaho Falls. Together, she and husband worked on the family farm. She enjoyed gardening and canning, she loved to quilt, crochet and read. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by Four daughters: Betty Wilding of Idaho Falls, Valene (Kent) Willford of Rigby, Renee (Tom) Griggs of Idaho Falls and Wanda Gay (Jerrold) Martineau of Pocatello, three sons: Allen (Joellen) Jensen of Hillsboro, Oregon, Dell (Paula) Jensen of Ririe, Lyle (Raedene) Jensen of Ririe, 35 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, three sisters, two sons: George Kay and Stephen Clyde Jensen two grandchildren Emily and Jeremy Jensen, 2 great grandsons Christopher Sanchez and Kaden Smith and a son-in-law Dale Wilding.
Funeral services will be held Saturday October 3, 2009 at 12:00 noon at the Shelton Ward LDS Chapel, 198 N. 4300 E., Rigby with Bishop Danny Ferguson officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday October 2nd from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and on Saturday from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
