Henry Jack Andrew Hoeger

December 23, 1924 — September 2, 2015

Henry Jack Andrew Hoeger, age 90 of Rigby, died Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at the Homestead Assisted Living Center in Rexburg. Henry was born December 23, 1924 in Almont, North Dakota. He was raised and attended schools in Almont, then continued his education at the University of Washington. As a teenager he moved to Yakima, Washington and at age 18 he joined the US Army; he served on the frontlines during WWII under the command of General Patton. On August 23, 1956 he married Shirlene Blanchard at St. John’s Lutheran Church, in Idaho Falls; they were blessed with 6 children. Henry was a hard worker; in his youth he picked fruit, he worked at the site as an accountant and C.P.A., and in 1960 he moved his family to California where he worked for the I.R.S. for 30 years. He also taught at East L.A. Junior College in the evenings. After he retired, they moved to Rigby, Idaho. Henry always strived for excellence in all he did. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, running and hiking. He especially loved training dogs; his championship dogs competed in field trials in California. He is survived by his wife, Shirlene Blanchard Hoeger, of Rigby, 5 daughters, Cherie (Beany) Fusano, of Camarillo, Callifornia, Shawna (Kenny) Lee, of Hibbard, Idaho, Karen Ruggiero, of Shelby Township, Michigan, Tammy (John) Hevlow, of Richland, Washington, Teresa (Lino) Cambaliza, of Quartz Hill, California 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jack Andrew Hoeger, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. God said, “Welcome home my son your mission on earth is done.” Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Chester Cemetery. The sorrow he leaves behind will be offset by the joy of those who are waiting for him in heaven. While he will be greatly missed, we rejoice that he will be at rest without mortal pain and concerns. The family expresses their appreciation to the staff at Homestead Assisted Living in Rexburg for their care, support and compassion.
