Hugh Max Brighton, 81, of Idaho Falls, died at his home Saturday, May 15, 2004.
Max was born September 14, 1922, at Idaho Falls, Idaho a son of William Stuart Brighton and Lillian Fratas Brighton. He attended schools in Idaho Falls.
On September 6, 1949 he married Miriam Louise Johnson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many callings including Sunday School Teacher and with the Scouts as Explorer Leader. He and his wife served a mission for the church to Ohio, Cleveland Mission.
He enjoyed draft horses and people, so he operated the Road Apple Trolley with his grandchildren around Idaho Falls.
Max was a happy outgoing man, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many.
He is survived by: his wife Miriam Louise Johnson Brighton of Idaho Falls, 3 daughters; Marilyn (Ron) Mecham of Smithfield, Utah, Marsha (Gary) Jones of Idaho Falls, Maxine (Scott) Barnett of Pleasant View, Utah, 5 sons: Bill (Carol) Ward of Boise, Dennis (Vicki) Ward of Salt Lake City, Utah, Stan (Kay) Brighton of Idaho Falls, Rulon (Trina) Brighton of Blackfoot, Joel (Julie) Brighton of Idaho Falls, 1 sister Carmine Dilworth of Carey, Idaho, 1 brother, Homer Brighton of Utah, 52 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Steven, a sister Wilma Robison and 2 brothers William and Stayner.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. in the Coltman 2nd Ward Chapel (12448 North 5 East) with Bishop Dave Keck officiating. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Church. Interment will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
