Hyrum “Hy” Forrest Baxter, 82, of Rigby, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at his home.
He was born February 6, 1931 in St. Anthony, Idaho, to William Wallace Baxter and Effi Durney Baxter. He was raised and attended schools in St. Anthony, graduating from St. Anthony High School. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On October 22, 1955, he married Erma JoAnn Lee in Rigby, Idaho.
He worked as a welder at the INEL for 30 years and at Don’s Lounge as a bartender for 20 years. He was a member of the VFW in Rigby and a member of the LDS church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting camping, and was an avid pool player.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Baxter, of Rigby, daughters, Teresa Flug of Joshua Tree, California, Shelly (Robert) Boyce of Dutch Harbor, Alaska, son, Stephen L. Baxter, of Idaho Falls, 10 grandchildren and 8
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death his parents, a daughter, Karen Ball, 1 grandson, 1 sister, and 2 brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery, services are under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
