Ida Mae Stimpson Thomas, 87, of Lewisville, died, Thursday, August 10, 2006, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
Ida was born July 5, 1919, at St. Anthony, to John Stimpson and Sarah Elizabeth Singleton Stimpson. She was raised just outside St. Anthony on the family farm and attended St. Anthony schools. In high school she was on the first girl’s softball team to earn varsity letters for the sport. She met Price Thomas during her junior year in high school and they were married, September 22, 1938. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple July 11, 1958. They continued living in St. Anthony and Island Park where the summers were spent with the family taking care of cattle for the Davis Lake Association and winters in St. Anthony where she worked as a deputy assessor in the Fremont County Assessors Office. In 1963 the family moved to Lewisville. She continued working in the Jefferson County Assessors Office until she retired in 1984. She also worked as an election official in Jefferson County for several years. Price preceded her in death on April 14, 1979. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she filled several ward and stake callings including Relief Society President, in the presidency of the Rigby Stake Young Women, and a mission to the Salt Lake Family History Library. She enjoyed reading, attending the temple, being with her family and getting together for reunions.
She is survived by her four children, Jerry W. (Sandy) Thomas of Fruitland, New Mexico, Kaye (Don) Schwendiman of Lewisville, Kathy (Moritz) Bazil of LaBelle, Curtis S. (JaLene) Thomas of Lewisville, 16 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and six brothers.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 14, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lewisville LDS Second Ward Chapel with Bishop Curtis S. Thomas officiating. The family will visit with friends on Sunday August 13, at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
