Ila Hazel Jennings

Ila Hazel Jennings of Rigby, Idaho passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, at Rigby Lake Memory Care surrounded by her loving family. She was born the 5th of 7 children on January 21, 1936, to Tharrell and Hazel Young in a little log house in Annis, Idaho.

In 1952, lla met the love of her life, David Jennings. After graduating from Rigby High School, they were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on August 29, 1954. They were seldom apart and celebrated a miraculous 70th Wedding Anniversary in 2024.

Ila farmed alongside her husband while raising their 5 children. Growing vegetables was also a passion of lla's from the time she was a little girl, helping her family with their truck garden, into adulthood when she used her experience to grow her own large vegetable garden from which she canned every year. She loved camping, quilting, sewing, fishing, and many enjoyable vacations with her family. Ila was widely known for baking the yummiest homemade bread.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, lla served faithfully as a Librarian, Primary President and teacher. Ila also participated as a leader in 4h and Cub Scouts and worked for Jefferson County School District for 26 years as a Teacher's Aide and Secretary.

Ila was a wonderful wife, sister, daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was a tremendous example of humility, grace, empathy, kindness, charity, service, and love. She will be deeply missed.

Ila is survived by her children, Gary (Mary) Jennings, Rick (Pat) Jennings, Brenda (Denys) Hansen, Mark (Janet) Jennings, Randy (Bonny) Jennings, Sister, Jone Vincent, 20 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.

Ila is preceded in death by her husband, David Jennings, granddaughter Brandi Jennings, her son in law Mark Barnes, her parents, Hazel and Tharrel Young, Sister Virginia Pitman, Brothers Bill, Roy, Rance and Stephen Young.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 31, 2026, at 11:00 am. The family will meet with friends and family Friday morning, 9:30-10:45 prior to services at the Rudy Ward Church,198 N 4300E, Rigby, Idaho 83442. Interment will be at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby, Idaho.

As a family, we are so grateful to Rigby Lake Assisted Living Staff and Enhabit Hospice for the loving, compassionate care that was given to our beautiful mother, grandmother and Sister.
