Ila Jean Spatig

Ila Jean Lang Spatig, 65, of Rigby, died Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at Rexburg Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born April 15, 1945, in Vancouver, Washington, to Edward Lang and Louise Rogers Lang. She was raised and attended school in Vancouver, Washington, graduating from Ft. Vancouver High School. She continued her education at BYU Provo, and received her degree in Nursing from College of The Desert in California. On May 28, 1965, she married Max Spatig in the Idaho Falls, LDS Temple. Together they had 7 children. She worked as a Registered Nurse for over 20 years, and received the Nursing Excellence Award while working at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ila was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; she served in the Relief Society and Primary. She was also involved in scouting and PTA programs. Ila loved to sew, make blankets, paint, read, and was very fond of horses. She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren, helping others, gardening and garage selling. She is survived by her husband, Max Spatig, of Rexburg, daughter, Rebecca (Shawn) Burrow, of Rigby, sons, Joe Spatig, of Sugar City, Mike Spatig, of Rexburg, Paul (Cherisa) Spatig, of Evanston, Wyoming, James (Jeanette) Spatig, of Idaho Falls, Chris (Christine) Spatig, of Layton, Utah, Daniel (Jen) Spatig, of Kaysville, Utah, sisters, Roxanna Caples, of California, Delona Lang, of Washington, and 14 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Ronald Lang. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, October 29, 2010 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, with Bishop Cal McOmber, conducting. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
