Ileen Freeman

Ileen Freeman, 84, of Idaho Falls passed away at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, Friday, March 5, 2010. She was born Februray 27, 1926 in Rigby Idaho, the oldest daughter of Stanely Rhodes and Gilzetta Fern Purser Rhodes. She attended schools in Rigby. After graduating from high school she moved to Utah and worked at Hill Air Force Base, where she met her sweetheart, Wayne Freeman. On June 7, 1945 she married Wayne Freeman in the Salt Lake City L.D.S. Temple. Just out of high school Ileen worked at Hill Air Force Base, after she and Wayne had been married a few years and returned to Idaho, she began making custom draperies and babysitting out of her home. She also worked nights at Idaho Fresh Pak, Inc. and in the school lunch program for School District #251. However the jobs she enjoyed the most, were those of daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Ileen and Wayne worked for over 20 years in the baptistery in the Idaho Falls Temple. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including Relief Society, Primary and Young Women’s. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking, going on rides, raising flowers and having a picnic. She loved her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, doing things with them made her retirement years lots of fun. She is survived by, three daughters, Rosalie (Gary) Taylor, of Modesto, CA, Barbara (Phil) Hayman of Idaho Falls, and Donna Freeman, of Idaho Falls, a son, Fred Stanley (Gwen) Freeman of Caldwell, ID a sister, Iris (Robert) Cheatham of Springville, UT a brother Larry (Sharon) Rhodes of Portland, OR, sixteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Carol Poole, a son, Darwin Freeman, a sister Deoine Rhodes Schmidt and a grandson, Leslie Scott Poole. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday March 13, 2010 at the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family will visit with friends from 9:30 to 11:15 a.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
