Illa Green Rawlins, 93, of Menan, passed away January 10, 2022, at her home surrounded by family.
Illa was born at her grandmother’s house in Menan, Idaho on May 26, 1928 a daughter of Seymour Ray Green and Donetta Raymond Green, the third child of 11 kids. She was raised and attended school in Menan and danced her way through high school graduating from Midway High School. When she turned 18, she left home and lived with aunts in Pocatello and California.
Illa married Donald Glen Rawlins on September 2, 1955, in the Idaho Falls Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Illa worked until they started a family in 1959. When Illa and Don were married, they lived in Logan until he was able to finish school. They moved to Firth for a short time and then on to Pocatello where Don was working. They moved their family to Menan in 1976 where she lived until her passing.
As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she served faithfully in many callings, always attending church until March of 2020 when the world changed. Illa served 2 missions, one in California from 1950-1952, and then with Don in Des Moines, Iowa from 2001-2002. Mom and dad loved to serve in the Idaho Falls Temple in the Baptistery and after dad passed away in 2006, she started to serve as an ordinance worker.
Mom loved to dance and shop for shoes and clothes.
Illa is survived by her children, Darwin (Sherri) Rawlins of Apple Valley, Utah, Dale Rawlins of Menan, Jane (Kirt) Hunting of Menan, Jill (Lewis) Bird of Idaho Falls, sisters, Mildred Sauer of Monteview, Ruth Hanson of Annis, Karen Chandler of Clearfield, Utah, June (Brent) Call of Grant, Joan Boyce of Lewisville, Nola (Anselmo) Arellano of Greensboro, North Carolina, 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Illa was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Wayne Green, Marvin Green and Ross Green, sister Naomi Green, grandson, Seth Rawlins, great grandsons, Lucas Nielsen and Jonas Ganowsky.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Menan Stake Center (698 N. 3600 E. Menan). The family will visit with friends on Friday evening January 14, 2022 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel and prior to the service on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery. The family expresses their appreciation to Aspen Home Health and Hospice for their care and compassion to Illa.
