Ira Alvin Hardy, 86, of Menan, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
He was born November 14, 1921, in Menan, to Charles Alvin Hardy and Florence Gray Hardy. He attended schools in Menan, graduating from Midway High School. He served in the Army Air Corps from December 27, 1941 – December 7, 1945, during WWII. On March 14, 1944, he married Virgina Lydia Butler, in Lyman, their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple April 2, 1966.
Ira was a lifetime resident and farmer of Menan, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, an avid sports fan, and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Hardy, of the Gables, in Ammon, a daughter, Nola Ree Hartgraves of Ammon, sons, DeVon (Mickey) Hardy of Sandpoint, Stuart (Kathy) Hardy, Brent (Kelli) Hardy, both of Menan, a sister Ella Mae (Earl) Wilcox, of Archer, 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Ray Hardy.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 8, 2008, at the Menan L.D.S. Stake Center 698 N. 3600 E., Menan, Idaho at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends Saturday 11:30 a.m – 12:45 p.m. at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
