Irene Louise Ellis, 90, of Hamer, died Saturday, April 23, 2005 at the Rexburg Nursing and Rehab Center in Rexburg, Idaho.
Irene was born April 10, 1915 at Idaho Falls a daughter of Benjamin Davies and Rose Zehnder Davies. She attended schools in Hamer. She married Melvin Purser Ellis, May 21, 1936 in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple may 21, 1966. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in the Relief Society and Young Women’s organizations. She loved sewing, making quilts, working with wood, helping on the farm and moving sprinkler pipe. Survivors include one daughter Elaine (Willis) Blaine of Terreton, two sons Robert (Afton) Ellis of Hamer and Gary (Doris) Ellis of Ucon, one sister Ilean (Mac) McArthur of Boise, two brothers Tom (Ileena) Davies of Spanish Fork, Utah and Oley Davies of Hamer, 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one great grandson, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 28, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hamer LDS Chapel. The family will visit with friends at the Hamer LDS Church on Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 and on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:45. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
